Radio and TV host, Nana Yaa Brefo has explained that there is no stupid question in journalism, in connection with her interview with actress Nana Ama McBrown, which went viral and ultimately led to her resignation from the Multimedia Group.

Speaking to Ameyaw TV during the official opening of Angel FM in Accra, Nana Yaa Brefo commented: “Sometimes, the work we do, people don’t get it… and if you don’t get it, you have to ask …I have been in this business for over 18 years and I know how it is. The vision and mission is to stay focused.”

Speaking specifically about the Nana Ama McBrown incident, she said: “If you watch the three-hour interview that morning, you would understand why I asked that questions. I just ask questions and that is my job. If you call me and you tell me that you’ve called me several times and I cant find your number on my phone, the next question, as a normal human being, you ask is which number did you call?”

“If you watched the program, you would see that she rather probably put me in a light that looked like ‘this is your job but I want to show you how you do your job’. But I didn’t take it serious, I wasn’t angry about it. I am ok with that; it is part of the job. I am not apologizing because I didn’t do anything wrong, it isn’t that I am pompous or I don’t know how to say sorry.

“In journalism, I don’t know where stupid question falls. There is nothing called stupid question. The only thing that you can call stupid is how you answer it. “
