“TikTok is killing the whole music industry right now” – S3fa
Black Avenue signee, Sefadzi Abena Amesu, popularly known as Sefa, has augured over how TikTok is killing the Ghanaian Music Industry.
TikTok has been a topic of discussion within the Ghanaian entertainment space for some weeks now following TikToker Asantewaa’s claim that they hold the power to the success of musicians in the country.
Reacting to this in an interview on Ultimate FM weeks ago, Sefa said TikTok is rather killing the industry.
She indicated that most Ghanaians do not appreciate good songs lately due to the craze of determining which song is good based on how viral it is on TikTok.
The ‘Fever’ singer asserted that people consume songs with a challenge or dance, and this she believes isn’t beneficial to the growth of the music industry.
She said:
“Now, if you make music and you don’t add a challenge to it, or some sort of dance, or some vibe to it, everybody thinks that that means you are not doing music. This is not right. I think that Tiktok is killing the whole music industry right now,”
“If you look at the music industry now, you don’t really hear the kind of quality music we used to hear before. We’re not feeling the type of vibe we used to have before…. This is because everybody thinks that if it doesn’t trend on TikTok, it is not music and that doesn’t make sense,” she added.
