Who will come out on top when Poirier and McGregor complete their trilogy this Sunday at 12am on SVariety 3.
Viewers on DStv can look forward to exclusive coverage of the final week of the Wimbledon Championships, live from the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London until Sunday 11 July 2021.
After a frantic first week at SW19, Wimbledon was able to enjoy its traditional rest day this past Sunday, but the action will resume in earnest on Monday 5 July with Fourth Round matches in both the Men’s and Women’s Singles.
On the Women’s side, major attention will be focused on 18-year-old Emma Raducanu. The wild card entry is the only remaining British player in either singles tournament and will receive vociferous home support when she comes up against Australia’s Ajla Tomljanovic.
“It’s incredible. I’m so grateful for this wild card,” said Canadian-born Raducanu after upsetting world number 45 Sorana Cristea this past weekend. “Honestly, I just wanted to make the most out of it, try to show that I earned it, try to make the most out of it. I’m really grateful for the All England Club’s support in taking a chance on me.
“And the way that I’m approaching my matches is each time I’m thinking to myself, ‘Why not?’. Like today, I was like, ‘Someone has to be in the second week, why not me?’. I think that’s how I’m approaching it. I’m just trying to stay here as long as possible. As I said, I’m just having such a blast. Everything is so well taken care of that it’s such a pleasure to be here.”
The Women’s Singles still has plenty of big names looming large, including top seeds Ashleigh Barty and Aryna Sabalenka, the exciting prospect Coco Gauff, a former champion in Angelique Kerber, and Tunisian Ons Jabeur, who stunned Garbine Muguruza on her Centre Court debut.
“This is the first time I play on Centre Court, and it’s amazing energy,” Jabeur said in her on-court interview. “I was a little bit nervous at the start. She plays unbelievable and I lost against her last time and this was kind of my revenge – in the nice way! In the difficult moments in the first set, I tried to stay calmer. I was more aggressive and trying to do more drop shots.”
On the Men’s side, heavy favourite Novak Djokovic dropped a set in his First-Round clash against wild card Jack Draper but has been immaculate ever since and will face Chile’s Cristian Garin, with a clash against Russian Andrey Rublev in the Quarterfinals looking likely.
Eight-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer has also progressed into the Fourth Round and will look to continue his form with a clash against Italian Lorenzo Sonego. “I definitely feel like I’ve got into my rhythm now at this point,” Federer said after beating Cameron Norrie. “Sometimes I was still mistiming my shots a little bit, [but] for the most part, I was still trying to play on the front foot.”

12 years old Ghanaian Nicholas Boamah premieres first TV show

U.S.-based Ghanaian, Nicholas Buamah Continues To Wow Audience
12-year-old Nicholas Buamah has recently set the internet ablaze with the premiere of his new TV show, “Nick’s House.”
The much anticipated pilot episode lived up to expectations, delivering both a blend of humor and wholesomeness. Nicholas, whose father hails from Ghana, infused elements of the Ghanaian culture into the TV sitcom, evident in the incorporation of the Twi language. Hollywood actor Som Aidoo, portraying Nicholas’s father on the show and a native of Ghana, seamlessly embraced the Ghanaian dialect, contributing to the authenticity of ‘Nick’s House.’
Nicholas’s journey into the world of storytelling began at the age of 7 when he published his first book, “Kayla & Kyle: The Walking Dictionaries, Election Day.” This marked the inception of a passion that led him to publish two additional books. As his love for writing blossomed, he envisioned creating a scripted show. Collaborating with his mother, Danielle, Nicholas enlisted the expertise of professional writers and producers to bring this remarkable project to life.
Although presented with offers from different platforms to feature “Nick’s House,” Nicholas and his mother opted to release it independently, ensuring accessibility to a global audience. Nicholas says that he’s looking forward to filming an episode or two of “Nick’s House” in Ghana in 2024.
Nicholas is credited as the creator, writer, and star of the show. He invites everyone to watch the pilot episode on MotherHubbard.TV or YouTube.com.

Nat Geo: “Bobi Wine: The People’s President” To Premiere On GOtv The man, the music, the movement

In Uganda’s 2021 presidential election, music star, activist and opposition leader Bobi Wine, together with his wife Barbie, rallied his people in a dangerous fight for freedom from President Museveni’s oppressive 35-year regime. Documenting his presidential run, National Geographic’s Bobi Wine: The People’s President, premieres across Africa on DStv 181 and GOtv 201 this Sunday, 3 December at 7pm.
Watch the trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Leqt5JhRa5A
Born in the slums of Kampala, Bobi Wine, Ugandan opposition leader, former member of parliament, activist and national superstar musician, risks his life and the lives of his wife, Barbie, and their children to fight the ruthless regime led by Yoweri Museveni. Museveni has been in power since 1986 and changed Uganda’s constitution to enable him to run for yet another five-year term.
Running in the country’s 2021 presidential elections, Bobi Wine uses his music to denounce the dictatorial regime and support his life mission to defend the oppressed and the voiceless people of Uganda. In this fight, he must also take on the country’s police and military, which are not afraid to use violence and torture in a vain attempt to intimidate and silence him and his supporters.
His characteristic enthusiasm for democratic discourse and the popularity he had earned from his prior artistic and philanthropic endeavors successfully endured his transition to politics. Bobi Wine continues to lead the NUP, the largest political opposition party in Uganda and has become the main opposition leader to President Museveni’s rule.

MultiChoice Ghana Staff Bring Akwaaba Magic’s ‘Nana Akoto’ to Life

Walk-in customers to the MultiChoice Ghana HQ in Accra were thrilled to see staff transform the office into a colourful display of the rich Ghanaian culture depicted in the Akwaaba Magic epic, ‘Nana Akoto’ on Friday 24th November 2023.
Barely a month into its premiere, ‘Nana Akoto’ has already become a household name for many viewers of Akwaaba Magic. However, the extra attention garnered from the staff activation added another layer of excitement and anticipation from viewers and those yet to watch the series.
The epic story of ‘Nana Akoto’ is inspired by true events; it tells the story of a young prince of the ancient Kwaaman kingdom, whose life takes a turn when he is sent to the powerful Denkyera Empire as a tribute. After years of indoctrination and a loss of identity, Nana Akoto must rediscover his identity and find his way back to his people.
The team at MultiChoice Ghana were able to bring the story of Nana Akoto to life in the Ghana office, dressing in traditional costumes with its accompanying accessories as exhibited by the characters in this series. Participation was “massive” as staff brought on their A-Game as they stood the chance to win a shopping voucher amongst others.
Commenting on the activation, Human Resource Manager at MultiChoice Ghana, Matilda Asare, said she was impressed with the high participation from staff. “This has been one of the most successful campaigns we’ve run this year. This is a true testament that we do not only promote our Ghanaian series on Akwaaba Magic to external customers, but internally, we consume our content as well,” she noted.
The excitement transcended to our GOtv and DStv customers as staff shared their colourful pictures on their social media handles. Juliet Fianko from our Customer Value Management team confirms she received several messages from her followers enquiring about the show. Juliet adds “I wish we could do this again because the feedback we received from customers has been encouraging, and the attention helps to promote local content on Akwaaba Magic.”
Nana Akoto airs every Monday to Friday at 20:00 GMT on Akwaaba Magic on DStv Ch. 150 and GOtv Ch. 102.
