Who will come out on top when Poirier and McGregor complete their trilogy this Sunday at 12am on SVariety 3.

Viewers on DStv can look forward to exclusive coverage of the final week of the Wimbledon Championships, live from the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London until Sunday 11 July 2021.

After a frantic first week at SW19, Wimbledon was able to enjoy its traditional rest day this past Sunday, but the action will resume in earnest on Monday 5 July with Fourth Round matches in both the Men’s and Women’s Singles.

On the Women’s side, major attention will be focused on 18-year-old Emma Raducanu. The wild card entry is the only remaining British player in either singles tournament and will receive vociferous home support when she comes up against Australia’s Ajla Tomljanovic.

“It’s incredible. I’m so grateful for this wild card,” said Canadian-born Raducanu after upsetting world number 45 Sorana Cristea this past weekend. “Honestly, I just wanted to make the most out of it, try to show that I earned it, try to make the most out of it. I’m really grateful for the All England Club’s support in taking a chance on me.

“And the way that I’m approaching my matches is each time I’m thinking to myself, ‘Why not?’. Like today, I was like, ‘Someone has to be in the second week, why not me?’. I think that’s how I’m approaching it. I’m just trying to stay here as long as possible. As I said, I’m just having such a blast. Everything is so well taken care of that it’s such a pleasure to be here.”

The Women’s Singles still has plenty of big names looming large, including top seeds Ashleigh Barty and Aryna Sabalenka, the exciting prospect Coco Gauff, a former champion in Angelique Kerber, and Tunisian Ons Jabeur, who stunned Garbine Muguruza on her Centre Court debut.

“This is the first time I play on Centre Court, and it’s amazing energy,” Jabeur said in her on-court interview. “I was a little bit nervous at the start. She plays unbelievable and I lost against her last time and this was kind of my revenge – in the nice way! In the difficult moments in the first set, I tried to stay calmer. I was more aggressive and trying to do more drop shots.”

On the Men’s side, heavy favourite Novak Djokovic dropped a set in his First-Round clash against wild card Jack Draper but has been immaculate ever since and will face Chile’s Cristian Garin, with a clash against Russian Andrey Rublev in the Quarterfinals looking likely.

Eight-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer has also progressed into the Fourth Round and will look to continue his form with a clash against Italian Lorenzo Sonego. “I definitely feel like I’ve got into my rhythm now at this point,” Federer said after beating Cameron Norrie. “Sometimes I was still mistiming my shots a little bit, [but] for the most part, I was still trying to play on the front foot.”

Confusion Hit Kumasi Over The True Owners Of Sompa FM (93.1)

Some discerning listeners of the newly opened Kumasi based radio station, Sompa Fm (93.1) are very confused as to the real owners of the station.

The most popular names that has pop up among the audience includes, Member of
Parliament for Suame Constituency and the majority leader in Parliament, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu or business mogul, One Achamfour or owners of 2pm express or tabeaa herbal company.

The confusion and allegations came at the back of the shocking porching of some renowned and seasonal journalists in the country to the station in the shortest period of time including, Political Talk Show host, Omanhene Yaw Adu Boakye, Sampson K Nyamekye, Emrantehene, Sometimer Oto Acheampong, Ante Naa, Kofi Appiah and others. Out of this list, Emrantehene aka man88 has confirmed the news and Omanhene Yaw Adu Boakye has also confirmed his signing with the new station on his official Facebook page. The rest has either refuse to comment or talk about it.

Meanwhile, management of the station has called on the general public to disregard the unfounded allegations in the public domain that the promising station belongs any of the names mentioned especially Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu because the station is sited at Suame and has some political dimension.

According to them, the public should focus on the good programs the station is bringing on board in shaping the national discourse and promoting socio- economic development as with time, the true owners will be known.

” Kyei Mensah Bonsu, One Achamfour, tabeaa herbal company and owners of 2M express are not the owners of Sompa Fm as is alleged. Time will tell for you to know the true owners of the station but currently our major focus is to build a solid brand. We assure the general public to expect something different and great from the good contents the station is about bringing. We have quality program outlines for our discerning listeners and viewers on all our social media platforms. We are determine to serve our people well”.

Moreover, the management appreciated the huge audience and attention the station is getting from the public in its first week of operation in the garden city.

Management took the opportunity to entreat listeners and potential sponsors to channel their products advertisement to Sompa Fm (93.1) for better promotions and marketing moving forward.

However, non of the alleged names mentioned above have come up to disprove the allegations leveled against them as being the owners or financiers of fresh in town radio station. Another clue that could possibly tag tabeaa herbal company to this rumor is the fact that tabeaa recently closed down it’s television station called Trust tv some months ago and is said that, they did this to switch to radio which is sompa 93.1fm.

What we can tell for a fact is that whoever is behind the station is definitely filty rich as it is rumor that some of the presenters are alleged to be taking an unresistible mouth watering packages.

Showmax announces its next Kenyan Original series, ‘Single-ish’

Showmax announces its next Kenyan Original series, 'Single-ish'

Showmax is kicking off 2022 by announcing its next Original series in Kenya, Single-ish, a 13-part drama series that will premiere on the platform on 20 January 2022.

Adapted from the hit South African series Unmarried, Single-ish follows the lives of three women in Nairobi – Sintamei, Mariah and Rebecca – as they deal with the challenges that marriage, relationships, and their careers throw at them. It also explores the strong bond of friendship that these women share, knowing that even when the world crumbles around them, they will always have each other.

Meet the three ladies at the heart of Single-ish.

Gathoni Mutua as Sintamei

Gathoni Mutua (This Is Life) plays the overachieving, career-focused Sintamei, a brilliant lawyer who seems to have the life that any woman would dream of – she’s on track to making partner in a prestigious law firm and has been happily married for 10 years to the man of her dreams. Or so she thought.

Talking about what drew her to the project, Gathoni says, “Other than the fact that it’s a show about women, Single-ish has this chic yet nostalgic old-school girlfriends vibe that takes the drama a notch higher without feeling like the friendship will fall apart.”

Minne Kariuki as Mariah

Minne Kariuki (Ma’Empress) plays the sassy Mariah, a woman with a taste for the finer things in life, who uses her looks to get whatever she wants.

“She (Mariah) is a modern-day slay queen who pretends to afford a lavish lifestyle and flaunts it all on social media because she wants to keep up with the trends,” Minne says, adding that Single-ish doesn’t shy away from telling it all as it is, capturing the struggles of modern women.

Faith Kibathi as Rebecca

Faith Kibathi (This Is Life) plays the humble and down-to-earth Rebecca, a housewife and a mother of two who has lived with her high school sweetheart for nine years despite not being officially married.

“It’s an honour to get to play Rebecca as she explores motherhood and failures of her relationship,” Faith says, “Single-ish is different because it’s very relatable and has a touch of the actual dating experiences in Nairobi. It also shows the beauty of reliable female friendship especially when things get bad.”

Single-ish also stars Brian Abajah (Sincerely Daisy), Michael Munyoki (A Grand Little Lie), Lucarelli Onyango (Crime and Justice), Mburu Kimani (Nairobi Half Life), Lenana Kariba (Selina), Dora Nyaboke (Crime and Justice) and Jacky Kaboi (Bait).

Single-ish is produced by Insignia Productions, the studio behind popular shows Changing Times and New Beginnings, with Insignia’s duo Philippe Bresson and Grace Kahaki co-directing alongside Robby Bresson (Simiyu Samurai).

“I think for the first time we are able to depict real life in an unfiltered way. To me this is real film making, when you are able to tell the story as it should be, so even as the viewer watches it, they will be surprised, shocked and will fall in love with how we tell the story. I don’t think there’s been any other show that has pushed the boundary in terms of women’s issues as we have,” Philippe says.

Single-ish becomes the second Showmax Original series in Kenya after the Kalasha-nominated hit police procedural and legal drama Crime and Justice, and the streamer’s third Original title in the country following the recent launch of the Showmax Original film Baba Twins.
