Donald Trump is suing to have his Twitter account back!

Former President Donald Trump has filed a lawsuit in Florida seeking to force Twitter to reinstate him, arguing the platform’s ban violates the First Amendment and Florida’s new social media law.

Trump is seeking a preliminary injunction of Twitter’s ban, according to the complaint filed in the Southern District of Florida late Friday. The former president argues that Twitter, “coerced by members of the United States Congress,” is censoring him, describing the social media platform as “a major avenue of public discourse.” Trump seeks to be temporarily reinstated on Twitter while he continues his efforts toward permanent reinstatement.

Twitter “exercises a degree of power and control over political discourse in this country that is immeasurable, historically unprecedented, and profoundly dangerous to open democratic debate,” the complaint states. The former president used his @RealDonaldTrump account to announce policy and personnel decisions (often to the surprise of the agencies and people involved), criticize political enemies, and spread misinformation about election results.

Twitter permanently banned @RealDonaldTrump in January, two days after the deadly January 6th riot at the Capitol building by pro-Trump supporters seeking to prevent the certification of Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential election. Twitter at first put a 12-hour ban on the former president’s account for “repeated and severe violations of our Civic Integrity policy” after he posted tweets repeating lies that the election was stolen. The platform made the ban permanent two days later. Other social platforms, including Facebook, Snapchat and YouTube, also banned the former president after the January 6th riots. Facebook’s Oversight Board later upheld that platform’s decision.

In the Friday filing, Trump argues that his Twitter account “became an important source of news and information about government affairs and was a digital town hall,” where the former president posted his views. At the time of the ban, Trump had 88 million Twitter followers. Twitter also censored him during his presidency, Trump claims, by labeling some of his tweets as “misleading information,” which the platform said violated its rules against “glorifying violence.”

Trump’s complaint also cites Florida’s new social media law, which prohibits social media companies from “knowingly” deplatforming politicians, and requires the platforms to apply “censorship, deplatforming, and shadow banning standards in a consistent manner.” Trump argues that Twitter has not enforced its standards in a consistent manner. Gov. Ron DeSantis signed the law in May, but a federal judge blocked it in July before it could take effect. DeSantis’ administration is appealing that decision.

The former president also said Twitter applied its rules about COVID-19 posts inconsistently, “to placate government actors who generally approved of the protests of the summer of 2020,” but “disapproved of the events of January 6.” The media had claimed, Trump argues, that the January 6th riot was a source of COVID-19 infection, but the summer protests were not. Data from numerous reports found no increase in COVID-19 cases in cities where there were large protests in the summer of 2020, noting that outdoor masking at the events likely helped keep cases down.

Twitter declined to comment Saturday.

Returning with a bang, critically acclaimed Cleveland rapper Doe Boy unleashes his anxiously anticipated new album, OH REALLY, today. This marks his first full-length release since the collaborative Demons R Us with Southside in 2020.

Get it HERE via Freebandz/Epic Records.

To celebrate the project’s arrival, he just dropped the music video for the new single and opener “BIG OH REALLY.Watch it HERE. Over a skittering beat, he leans into a fiery flow punctuated by airtight rhymes.

Elsewhere, 808s grind against ominous piano on “3AM IN LA” between samples of a news report on the uptick of Ohio gang violence. On “OPP PARTY” [feat. Nardo Wick & G Herbo], he launches into a vicious cadence before Nardo Wick and G Herbo pull up with incendiary cameos of their own. Moneybagg Yo blesses “BOFFUM” with his presence, making for yet another anthem together. Then, there’s “REAL RECOGNIZE REAL” [feat. Roddy Ricch]. A soulful hook resounds as Roddy’s delivery proves both magnetic and melodic all at once. “CRY FOR ME”[feat. Ty Dolla $ign] represents an emotional apex. Doe Boy’s confessional bars give way to a smooth and emotionally charged refrain from Ty. Finally, heavenly guitar underscores “SNATCH YO SOUL,capturing raw longing in his woozy tone.

Check out the full tracklisting below.

Last year, he set the stage for the project with a string of bangers. “LOW KEY” [feat. Lil Uzi Vert] check out his acoustic Fine-Tuned performance on Audiomack. On its heels, “AIN’T MY FAULT” [feat. 42 Dugg] with Rowdy Rebel cracked 1.3 million YouTube views on the music video. It also boasts “ONNA HOOD” [feat. Babyface Ray], which attracted widespread critical acclaim.

OH REALLY ignites what promises to be a massive year for Doe Boy.

Stay tuned for more soon.

LGBTQ+ Short Film FEMME starring Paapa Essiedu and Harris Dickinson longlisted for a 2022 BAFTA

Writer/director duo Sam H. Freeman and Ng Choon Ping’s FEMME takes a traditionaly testosterone-drenched genre and flips it, reimagining the darker edge of London’s nightlife through a queer lens. It was born of their love for the crime-thriller genre, but also – as queer artists – out of feeling excluded from it. This topical film premiered at the Oscar-Qualifying SXSW, alongside the London Film Festival and took home the top prize at the BIFA’s.

Jordan is a femme gay man – a label he wears proudly. But every time he steps out of the house with his lipstick on, he remembers his dad’s stark warning: the world will always be a dangerous place for a boy like him.

After suffering heartbreak at a nightclub, Jordan meets Wes, a drug dealer, out on the street. Wes is flirtatious, masculine, and exactly the kind of boy Jordan’s dad warned him about. Throwing caution to the wind, Jordan gets in Wes’s car, and the night takes a dangerous turn…

The film stars Paapa Essiedu (I MAY DESTROY YOU/GANGS OF LONDON) and Harris Dickinson (THE KING’S MAN/BEACH RATS).

Writer/Director Ng Choon Ping is a BIFA winning writer/director. He is set to direct THATCHER IN CHINA at the National Theatre, an epic multi-generational political drama about the troubled return of Hong Kong by the British to Beijing. Recently Ping directed Macbeth at the Bristol Old Vic, and a new adaptation of Strindberg’s MISS JULIE at the Hong Kong Arts Festival. He’s the recipient of multiple prestigious awards in recognition of his work which has featured at the National Theatre, Royal Shakespeare Company, and Young Vic.

Writer/ Director Sam H. Freeman is also a BIFA winning writer/director who has just wrapped running the writers’ room for his own original series THE CORRIDOR, with Bad Wolf producing for HBO Max. His serialised thriller ARCADIA is being produced by Scott Free for the BBC, and he recently wrote the lauded episode 3 of INDUSTRY for HBO/BBC. His first original series UNMASKED sold to Disney.

Producer Sam Ritzenberg is a BIFA winning producer whose films have played at major film festivals around the world. As an executive producer, his TV series have resulted in deals with CBS and Quibi. Sam took over the head of TV and Film position at Agile in 2019. Fellow Producer Hayley Williams is a BIFA winning producer. Before landing as a development producer for Agile Films, Hayley was the head of music videos for Agile where she developed and produced for top UK directors. Producer Rienkje Attoh has worked on long and short-form content across documentary, fiction, and animation. In 2020, Screen International announced Rienkje as a UK and Ireland’s Star of Tomorrow.

Agile Films produce unique and character-driven films and television that aim to inspire and entertain. They work with rising and established writers, directors, and on-screen talent from both the UK and internationally to develop and produce bold and distinctive stories across all genres.
