As the price of 25-liter gallons of vegetable oils reaches an all-time high, social media is rife with complaints. John Dumelo has mentioned an alternative that he thinks is a more affordable alternative amid all the confusion.

The former actor is still honing his entrepreneurial skills as he encourages people to cook healthy meals with shea butter that is sourced from the country’s northern regions.

On Facebook, John Dumelo posted a query that has received over 200 shares in the past hours.
“Natural shea butter oil can be used for cooking, and it’s in abundance in the Northern part of Ghana. So why are we not promoting its use?”

Some vendors are now charging Ghc850 and Gh1100 for items they once sold for GHc350.

Since cooking with oil constitutes a significant portion of the Ghanaian diet, this has caused a stir.

In order to cover costs, many food vendors have consequently raised meal prices or cut back on serving sizes.

As people tighten their budgets to feed large families, shea butter and shea oil as an alternative are quickly becoming a topic of conversation.

Shea butter is renowned for being a superior option for frying food. Shea butter in Grade A unrefined form is organic and vegan. It is a great alternative to many other cooking oils because it is also very nutritious.

In addition to cooking, shea butter has other uses as well. It is a crucial part of the cosmetic industry.
