Usher visits Chorkor Community ahead of his performance at the Global Citizen Festival in Accra
Grammy-winning American singer, Usher has arrived in Ghana for the Global Citizen Festival in Accra.
The superstar was spotted in Chorkor hanging out and interacting with some students from BASICS International school.
Usher was accompanied by SZA, who is also billed to perform at the festival in Accra and the two toured the Chorkor community.
According by a statement by the Ghana Tourism Authority, who shared photos from their visit, Usher and SZA’s visit was spearheaded by the BASICS International NGO in Chorkor.

“Today, the Global Citizen Festival artistes, Usher and SZA visited the BASICS international school and toured the Chorkor community. BASICS International is an education-focused NGO in Chorkor, Accra, engaged in making education and childcare accessible in vulnerable communities. The organisation is also one of Global Citizen’s regional response partners for the End Extreme Poverty NOW campaign for Global Citizen Festival: Accra,” the Tourism Authority wrote.
Global Citizen Festival is in Ghana for the first time, marking the 65th anniversary of Ghana’s independence and the 20th anniversary of the African Union.
Accra’s iconic Black Star Square will see live performances from Usher, SZA, Stormzy, Gyakie, H.E.R., Sarkodie, Stonebwoy and TEMS and many others.
