Van Buren Records release Black Wall Street EP with new video for “CULT” (feat. Jazz Cartier)

The talented collective of bars-focused rappers from Brockton, Massachusetts, Van Buren Records, has released a new EP, Black Wall Street. Like the project’s namesake, a once-booming Greenwood District of Tulsa, Oklahoma that goes uncovered by many classroom textbooks, VB has achieved success by themselves, on their terms. The follow-up to April’s Bad For Press full-length includes a rare guest in the circle, Jazz Cartier.

The LA-by-way-of-Toronto star appears on “CULT,” a music video arriving with the EP. In a mansion with some devoted followers, Van Buren Records’ SAINT LYOR, Luke Bar$, Invada, FELIX!and Jazz Cartier concoct nod-inducing elixirs, trance, and watch footage of other famous cult leaders, all in between conjuring lyricism and a hypnotizing beat. The Van Buren Records camp continues to offer a highly stylized, quite compelling audio-visual lean-back experience.

With a name inspired by a fictitious street gang from an episode of Seinfeld, Van Buren Records is a 13 member collective comprised of rappers FELIX!, Luke Bar$, Jiles, SAINT LYOR, Meech BOLD, Invada, and producer/emcee multi-hyphenate, Andrew Regis. Regis is joined by fellow producers Ricky Felix and Kiron Akil, and engineer, R. Louie. The crew is rounded out by the designer, Moses Besong, and creative directors, Shelby Narcisse and E. Each group member plays an integral role in the collaborative process, and each emcee has their own unique voice, style, and identity. Together, Van Buren Records are an eclectic group with an original sound, best exemplified on their recent singles “MEDIC,” “BRAINDEAD,” and “RELAX.” “CULT” follows this month’s “CASH RULES,” another visual highlight from the five-song collection produced by frequent beat-maker AzizTheShake.

Hailing from Brockton, Massachusetts, the first majority Black city in New England, Van Buren Records boasts a cohesive sound that has catalyzed mosh pits across their home state and beyond, igniting a new phase in the greater Boston area Hip-Hop renaissance and creative community at large. Receiving critical praise from Pigeons & Planes (Best New Artists of April), NPR (“Favorite Albums Of 2021” list), Lyrical Lemonade, and UPROXX, as well as an Instagram story cosign from Brent Faiyaz, Van Buren Records is commanding 2021 with a Bad For Press full-length album and now, a fresh, follow-up Black Wall Street EP. They’ll be performing songs from both releases next month at select dates in Los Angeles, NYC, and Boston – listed below.
