Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Board meets today to discuss categorization of entries

Published

on

gma2012The criteria for short listing entries into the final 6 or 7 Nominations per Category for this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards scheme takes center stage at this week’s VGMA Board meeting. The Board will meet today, February 9 to review the Categories one after the other, this time with the aim of cutting the number of entries down to about 6 or 7 Nominations per category – this process once completed is irrevocable. This process follows closely on the heels of the just ended Categorization exercise where all entries received were placed into their appropriate categories through a detailed exercise that included listening to each song submitted. With that exercise over, the VGMA Board will need to shortlist the entries based first of all on the main GMA criteria of wholesome lyrical content. As the gatekeepers of the Ghana Music industry, the VGMA will not endorse songs that promote violence or sexually explicit lyrics. Therefore any song that falls within these criteria will be excluded from nomination. The next test is for popularity for the song categories and for the artiste categories, visibility, stagecraft and audience appeal. The top 6-7 entries which make it through this final stage will be published in the Final Nomination list for public voting.]]>
