Watch: Deborah Cox hopes to taste Ghanaian food, sing with other musicians on her first visit to Ghana

For most Ghanaians who lived the 90s music era, one musician who grabbed their attention, and that of the world, with her powerful voice was Deborah Cox. The singer has arrived in Ghana for the Ghana World Music Festival; an event which is part of a long list of activities earmarked for the celebration of the Year of Return. The never ageing Deborah Cox, now 45, touched down at the Kotoka International Airport Thursday evening.

Looking radiantly beautiful as usual, the ever bubbly looking Deborah beamed with smiles as she was welcomed by a traditional dance group and journalists.

Deborah Cox, revealed in an interview with JoyNews’ Becky that, she is really excited to be ‘home’ and she is really looking forward to “just seeing everyone [at the concert], performing, singing, pouring my heart out to the audience, the people who have supported me for so many years.”

She will be performing at the two-day concert – August 3 and August 4 – at the Fantasy Dome at the Trade Fair alongside other great musical talents.

The singer, who was once a professional backing vocalist for Celine Dion, says she is looking forward to meeting and possibly working with some Ghanaian talents.

“There are so many musicians that have come out of Ghana that have impacted a lot of musicians and the style, even in the US, so I’m very excited to meet some of the musicians at the festival as well,” she said.

Apart from the concert, Deborah Cox hopes to do some shopping in Ghana and also taste “the food. Eating some great food…and just sharing and exploring.”

Also on her to-do list, while here, the singer says, is to dive into her history.
