Atlanta-based Ghanaian record producer, Nektunez has opened up about how Sony Music came to his aid when his ‘Ameno Ampiano’ remix song became a viral hit.

Nektunez who sampled ERA’s Ameno on his ‘Ameno Amapiano remix’ said he didn’t know he had to do a full sample clearance for the song.

“Before I put the song on the DSPs (apple music and Spotify) distrokid gave me an option where I could secure a temporary license that’s how come the record is even on Apple music and all that. i didn’t know i had to do a full clearance i mean it was fine everything was doing well on the platforms until the song became very big and then the label saw how big the record was and they want me to do the needful that’s the full clearance so as at that time we tried to reach out to their team and you know doing everything by myself and my team we didn’t have the right connections so Sony came at the right time and they help us to do the full clearance and then put it back up on all platforms” he explained.

On his deal with Sony, Nektunez revealed it’s a long term artiste-producer deal.

According to Nektunez, although several international record labels came knocking on his door he settled with Sony Music because they have a goal that aligns with his vision.
