Watch: Kuami Eugene was rooting for KiDi to win the “Artiste of the Year” award
Although Lynx Signee, Kuami Eugene was nominated in the “Artiste of the Year” category at the 2022 edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs), he was rooting for his label mate, KiDi to pick up the award.
In a red carpet interview with Ameyaw TV just before he stepped in for the ceremony, Kuami Eugene stated that the “Artiste of the year” award a nice award, however, he was hoping that KiDi win this year.
“It’s a nice award but this year I’ll be excited for anyone who picks it up, whether KiDi or whoever is in that category. But I think KiDi has done well…I’m rooting for my brother KiDi this year,” he stated.
Kuami Eugene’s wish came through as KiDi was crowned the overall “Artiste of the Year” on the night, making it his very first win.
Kuami Eugene is not new to that award, in the year 2020, he was crowned Artiste of Year at the 21st edition of the awards show. He was also adjudged the Highlife Artiste of Year on the same night.
