Vanessa A. Williams & Leon Robinson talk about working with Leila Djansi in Ghana

Cast members of Leila Djansi’s award-winning series, ’40 and Single’, Vanessa A. Williams and Leon Robinson have appeared on the popular ‘Breakfast Club’ show on Power 105.1 FM in New York to talk about the series, working in Ghana and more.

Speaking to hosts Charlamagne Tha God, Angela Yee and  DJ Envy, the two actors highlighted how important and special it felt connecting with the diaspora.

“What I love about the series is that, here is us in some place else in the world. We are not just here in America, we are all around the world. So why aren’t we telling stories that resonate with us here, whether we are told that story in Ghana or France?”, said Leon.

Vanessa also added, “It was great working with the Ghanaian actors and the director; bridging the gap and going back home. “

Written and directed by Leila Djansi, 40 and Single is an UMC (Urban Movie Channel) television series that tells the story of a bisexual, mixed race, single bridal fashion designer as she maneuvers life and business in post-colonial Africa. It recently won the Audience Award at The LA Film Festival for Episodic Pilot and was shot by cinematographer Pietro Villani with the EVA1 cinema camera.
