What to expect from Ghana at the World Cup

Ghana is back in the World Cup after missing out on the competition in 2018. The Black Stars return to the World Cup and will be in Group H. Ghana will face the likes of Portugal, South Korea, and Uruguay in the competition’s opening group.

Not much is expected out of Ghana according to the latest World Cup Betting Odds as Ghana is +2500 to win the World Cup, tied on odds with the likes of Cameroon, Japan, Australia, Qatar, and group mates South Korea. Only Tunisia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Costa Rica open with lower odds of winning it all.

However, Ghana has an interesting team due to what they are attempting to build before the competition. Got to have already been able to persuade Atletico Bilbao’s Inaki Williams and Crystal Palace’s Tariq Lamptey to join the nation instead of going to their original nations.

It doesn’t look like Ghana intends to stop with this either, as they are trying to persuade England Winger Callum Hudson-Odoi and Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah to join the nation as well. With so many great young players that have dual citizenship with Ghana, there is an upsurge in the African’s nation desire to convince them to play for Ghana where it will be easier to get playing time and have a chance in the World Cup squad. Due to this approach, Ghana is one of the few nations that betting odds can’t be sure what their roster will fully look like heading into the tournament.

Ghana is currently tied with South Korea on the lowest odds to win Group H, with both teams at +1300, but Ghana has slightly higher betting odds to qualify from the group at +250, third of the group, just over South Korea once again at +300. However, if Ghana is able to poach more young talent before the World Cup, there’s no telling how high their chances could go
