Whirlpool donates to Miss Ghana contestants
Ederick Ghana Limited, sole distributors of Whirlpool domestic appliances in Ghana, has donated items worth thousands of Ghana cedi to contestants of this year’s Miss Ghana beauty pageant. At an impressive ceremony held at the La offices of the company, some 30 contestants including 20 finalists of this year’s event were each presented with a brand new microwave oven, in fulfillment of a promise made by the Miss Ghana office. Officials of Whirlpool, who donated the items to the contestants, underscored the importance of beauty pageants to the promotion of tourism in Ghana. “Whirlpool is happy to be part of this initiative. Tourism forms a crucial and important part of growing Ghana’s economy and we believe the Miss Ghana platform offers that hence our association,” an official of the company said. Obviously touched by the kind gesture, the contestants expressed their gratitude to Whirlpool, and thanked them for their unflinching support towards this year’s event. “It is refreshing to know that even at this stage we get to walk away with these prizes. It is an experience of a lifetime, and am happy to be a part of this,” said one of the thirty contestants. Present at the ceremony to witness the presentation were officials of the Miss Ghana secretariat including CEO Inna Mariam Patty, Contestant Manager Lauretta Aryeetey and Publicist Obed Boafo, amongst others. Still the most glamorous and respected beauty pageant in Ghana, this year’s Miss Ghana promises to be exciting by the day, the organizers have assured.
