Who is in the cast of House Of The Dragon?
Years after the Game of Thrones finale, fans are still furious about how the beloved show of never-ending war ended. However, as we approach the release date of the new show House of The Dragon, the hopes of the fans can be renewed.
After the Game of Thrones finale that sparked up huge reactions from all people, most of us expected a sequel that will come as an apology for ruining the 8 season long series. However, the sequel won’t happen, at least for now and fans can only be satisfied with a prequel that will take us hundreds of years before the events of Game of Thrones.
Since the new show will take place years before Game of Thrones, none of our beloved actors and actresses will be included in the new show. For some people, this is somehow a disappointment, and for others, it is an opportunity for fans to meet new characters that will take this series to the next level.
Introducing new characters in the show is somehow a gamble since the Game of Thrones odds are already set, but this move can also lead to more opportunities for better series than the previous.
So, let’s meet the cast of the new House of the Dragon series that will take us into the forever war-struck realm in the fight for the throne.

The New Cast Of House of The Dragon
It is time to meet the new cast that promise to continue the drama of the story based on the Targaryen family. But who are the actors that managed to get the leading roles in the House of the Dragon?
Matt Smith – Daemon Targaryen
The role of the fearless warrior and dragon rider, which is the prince of the city fell in the hands of Matt Smith. Daemon Targaryen possesses the true blood of the dragon, and it is said that when a Targaryen is born, the gods toss a coin in the air.
This suggests that the new character that will dominate the upcoming series will be unpredictable and erratic. Daemon Targaryen will be seen as a hero to some, but a true villain to most.
When it comes to Matt Smith, he is best known to science-fiction fans as the Eleventh Doctor in the Doctor Who series, and as Prince Phillip in the Netflix series The Clown.
Even though we’ve not seen much from Matt Smith, he proved his acting talents by receiving a Primetime Emmy Award and Screen Actors Guild nomination.
Emma D’Arcy – Rhaenyra Targaryen
It seems like the leading role of the new series fell in the hands of Emma D’Arcy
Rhaenyra Targaryen is the firstborn child of the King that got the nickname “Realms Delight”. She is also a pure valyrian blood and an experienced dragonrider.
However, even though she is the rightful owner of the throne, she will be challenged just because she is a woman.
Emma D’Arcy is best known for playing in the British television miniseries Wanderlust and in the horror comedy Truth Seekers.
Paddy Considine – King Viserys Targaryen
King Viserys Targaryen is a wise and decent man that succeeds the old King Jaehaerys Targaryen. However, being a good man doesn’t give him hope for succeeding in the twisted world of the seven kingdoms.
Constantine is actually an actor, screenwriter, and director who has incredible charm and subtle intensity. He is best known for starring in movies like the Bourne Ultimatum and The Journeyman. He has also received two British Academy Film Awards and Silver Lion for the best short film.
Olivia Cooke – Alicent Hightower
As we learned from the Game of Thrones, the hand of the king has an important role in a show, and Olivia Cooke will play the daughter to the hand of the king, Otto Hightower. She is also the second wife of King Viserys that shows support for her son Aegon during the Dance of Dragons.
She is considered the most alluring woman in all Seven Kingdoms who also happens to have a sharp mind in politics, making her an important character in the plot of the series.
Olivia Cooke is best known for movies like Bates Motel, and she also got a lead role in Ready Player One playing Becky Sharp. Olivia Cooke reviled that she haven’t watched any Game of Thrones episodes until she got the role. However, after watching one episode of the show, she was attached to the drama and really loved the uncertainty behind it.
Steve Toussant – Lord Corlys Velaryon
Lord Corlys Velaryon has built quite a reputation for being one of the fiercest sailors in Westeros earning the nickname “The Sea Snake”. He is married to princess Phaenys Velaryon and has a powerful navy fleet making him an important character in the fight for the throne.
Steve Toussant is known for roles in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, and Judge Dredd by Sylvester Stallone. He also participated in series like Doctor Who and The Walking Dead.
Eve Best – Princess Rhaenys Targaryen
Being the wife of the richest man in Westeros, Lord Corlys Velaryon makes it an important role in the series. The princess is also a dragon rider, and she was passed over for the throne due to the dominancy of male successors.
Eve Best is known for playing in the BBC mysteries The Honorable Women as Monica Chatwin and in Nurse Jackie. She has also received two Tony Award nominations for Best Actress and won Laurence Oliver Award for Best Actress in Hedda Gabler.
Final Words
This is the cast that will get the leading roles in the House of The Dragon. Throughout the season we will meet many more people like Sonoya Mizuno playing Mysaria, Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower, Milly Alcock as Young Rhaenyra Targaryen, and Graham McTavish as Ser Harold Westerling.
We hope that the new cast will be able to bring the never-ending action and thrills we are used to from Game of Thrones.
