Why Miss Earth Ghana, Evelyn Abena Appiah is a favorite to win Miss Earth 2019

Miss Earth Ghana, Evelyn Abena Appiah is quickly becoming a crowned favourite to win the crown at the ongoing Miss Earth pageant in the Philippines.

Along with Miss World, Miss Universe, and Miss International, the competition is one of the “Big Four” international beauty pageants – the most coveted beauty titles in the world.

Abena, who is winning over crowds with her sense of humour, trended online after an interview with ABS-CBN News went viral.

“Ang batang malakas kumain ay laging may gana!” she said, laughing to the camera.

The line is a staple in comedy routines and sketches, and translates to: “The child who eats well always has an appetite.”

ABS-CBN reported that short clip, which came from a “TV Patrol” had already been shared over 25 000 times on Facebook, with nearly 1 million views.

During a second event, Abena once again flexed her comedy muscles and impressed the locals with her Filipino skills.

She ended her answer to a question about water conservation with: “Gumamit ng tabo, timba at palang-ghana!”

Which literally translates to: “Use a dipper, pail, and basin!”

Abena is one of 85 environment advocates competing for the Miss Earth 2019 crown. The winner will be announced on 26 October.

According to her Miss Earth bio, Evelyn is a flight attendant who wants to promote her campaign, ‘Educate to Eradicate.’

The Xfactor finalist, model, musician and songwriter has won three awards in the competition so far. She won gold in the Best In Resort Wear, Best In Long Gown and Best Talent competitions.

Abena is no stranger to pageantry and was a delegate at the Miss Universe 2014 pageant. Her social media comment section is mostly filled with fans already calling her MISS EARTH 2019 and we can’t wait to see it come true on Saturday!
