The ‘Oil City’ will soon have a feel of the ‘Y experience’ in entertainment and music lifestyle as it witnesses the birth of another brand of Y FM in the Takoradi Metropolis and its environs. The new station, Y 97.9FM will be the officially be outdoored in Takoradi as an affiliate of the popular Y FM in Accra.
The new station pledges to deliver on its brand promise of providing quality and unmatched entertainment in music and lifestyle through quality programming; and will be feeding live on the programmes that are currently been run on its mother station Y107.9FM.
Managing Director of Commercial Operations of Global Media Alliance Broadcasting Company, mother company of Y FM, Akwasi Agyeman explains that ‘as the official station for the young and young at heart, we are always on the lookout for opportunities to get closer to our listeners across the country and to bring unmatched world class quality entertainment to their homes, offices, schools and wherever they are’. He added that ‘there have numerous calls on us to spread our tentacles with the vibrant Y brand and so this is just a part of our listening culture and the openness that set us apart in a very competitive industry’.
Y97.9FM will feature talented presenters who call the shots in the music and entertainment industry such as Nathalie, Nana Kwame, Jeremie, Sammy Forson, Jay Foley, Africa’s finest female DJ, DJ Kess and many others.
The official launch of the station will play host to corporate bodies and personalities, famous artistes, YFM presenters and fans, media partners at a networking and celebration night that will be filled with unforgettable breath-taking performances from some of Ghana’s most sought-after artistes. The evening will also give the gathering a unique opportunity to network and interact with some of Y FM’s presenters and the faces behind a great team.
According to the Station Manager of YFM, Nana Kwame Sarpong who also doubles as the presenter for Drive of your Life says, ‘YFM is poised to take radio entertainment to a higher level with more refreshing programmes, presenters and events that will take the oil city by storm. The launch of our affiliate radio station in Takoradi is a reflection of our total commitment to bringing quality entertainment to the doorstep of Ghanaians. Other exciting programmes lined up for the launch of Y97.9FM include an arrival jam, poolside jam, on-air give away and a float. Telecommunications giant, Vodafone Ghana is the official sponsor of the event.
