Yaw Sakyi featured on BET's Almost Married

Published

Latice Crawford,Jeff SpainWell its Good Friday and i chanced upon BET’s reality show, ‘Almost Married’ after watching an episode of ‘Next Generation Wayans’. To my pleasant surprise the episode of Almost Married was on Jeff Spain and Latice  Crawford’s travel to Ghana to tell Jeff’s parents that they are engaged.  The episode saw the couple visiting and appearing live on TV Africa’s Rundown with Yaw Sakyi, going to Action Faith Chapel and meeting Duncan Williams among other things. Almost Married follows the journey of talented gospel singers and soulmates Latice Crawford and Jeff Spain, who first met on set during Season 2 of BET’s “Sunday Best” gospel talent show – and haven’t been separated since. As these two very different people progress to the next stage of their union, Almost Married candidly follows the couple as they experience the good, the bad, and the not so holy process of tying the knot.  Will a strong love for God, family and music be enough to keep them on the straight and narrow, or will they falter on their way to the altar? Sparked by a divine encounter, the confident and spirited bride to-be believes that God told her that her future husband’s name would be Jeff.  Laid back crooner Jeff quickly felt the vibe and fell into line and the rest is a love story in the making. Born and raised in Queens, New York, Latice Crawford was destined to become a Gospel siren. A storefront preacher’s daughter, Crawford got her start singing in her cousin’s choir. The New York landscape, from which she often gathered inspiration, allowed her to explore her creative capacities – writing, fashion designing and perfecting her signature sound. “I don’t sing,” Crawford has said about her talented vocals. “I testify to a beat!” Jeff Spain initially struggled to find his true calling in life.  Born to a Ghanaian business-man and young church singer, Jeff often times faced opposition from his parents whenever he discussed pursuing a career in music. But their attempt to dissuade him only fuelled his passion. “When I would listen to great music, I could always escape from my present reality and get lost in thesongs,” Spain said of his relationship with music. “When I started writing my own music, I felt so empowered. Music has always been my voice.”
