16,000 “GH COVID-19 TRACKER” downloads in less than 24hrs – Communications Minister

The new “GH COVID-19 TRACKER” app which was officially launched yesterday has been downloaded 16,000 times according to Communications Minister, Ursula Owusu Ekuful.

The app is designed to help contact tracing people who have come into contact with COVID-19 positive individuals.Speaking at the Ministry Of Information’s Press Briefing on Tuesday, Hon. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful revealed that the app has been downloaded 16,000 times since its launch yesterday.She further explained that 100 respondents gave COVID-19 signs and their data were being transferred to the Ghana Health Service for follow ups.
The user friendly and free to download mobile software application is available for Android and is originally intended for productivity assistance which will augment the state’s efforts in the fight against the global pandemic.

According to the experts, the software will trace anyone who has come into contact with persons carrying the COVID -19 virus.

At the televised virtual concert launch of the app, experts educated people on how to find their way around the App and gave an insight on who can use it.
