YouTuber recreates Squid Game with a prize money of $456,000, garners over 100 millions views

Popular YouTuber Mr. Beast created an elaborate real-life version of Squid Game, challenging 456 players to compete for a cash prize and the world is watching.

Mr. Beast, whose name is Jimmy Donaldson, said it took about $3.5 million USD to recreate every game from the Netflix series in real life, including Red Light, Green Light, Tug of War and the infamous Glass Bridge. He also managed to get 456 players to take part, going head to head in the hope of claiming the $456,000 (£341,000) jackpot.

Contestants who failed the challenges were “eliminated” by having a small device strapped to them pop to safely recreate the show’s gory tactics. The games were funded in part by mobile game company Brawl Stars.

After whittling the group down to the last six, instead of playing the Squid Game, the finalists of Donaldson’s stunt all played a game of musical chairs, with 079 claiming the top prize.

And the runner-up didn’t go home empty-handed either, walking away with a cool $10,000 (£7,400).

Mr Beast’s long-awaited real-life Squid Game finally landed on his YouTube channel on 24 November, has 110,923,275 views, and trending Number 9 on global YouTube.
