on

If you’re engaged and plan on getting married soon, first of all, congratulations! Being a bride-to-be is a very exciting time in one’s life. That being said, a lot goes into planning a wedding and it can be pretty stressful. Especially if you’re doing the bulk of the planning yourself, it can feel like you’ll never be able to get everything done in time or be able to afford it all, as weddings are also a massive expense.

However, you shouldn’t worry too much, as you’re certainly not the first one to be planning a wedding. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, you’re not alone! There are simple changes you can make to your lifestyle to make the entire process easier and more stress-free. To give you a glimpse of this, here are 3 lifestyle tips for brides to be.

Get Organized

Getting yourself organized is one of the first steps you should be taking in the wedding planning process, and it’s something that will benefit you in all other areas of your life as well. Start a spreadsheet if that is something that’ll help you with all of the things you need to get done and organize them based on your priorities.

For example, you’ll probably need to book/reserve a venue before you do anything else such as hire a wedding videographer, so that should be at the top of your list. Purchasing a dress should come before things like purchasing alcohol, in order to leave time for alterations. Once you get your priorities straight and organize everything, you can start to knock things off your to-do list one by one.

Spend Quality Time With Your Fiancé

If you’re planning a big wedding, it can be difficult to think about anything else and you can begin to lose sight of the reason why you’re here in the first place! Many couples end up fighting a lot and going through a rough patch during wedding planning simply because it’s such a stressful time and people’s limits are tested.

This doesn’t have to be the case though! Make it a point to spend quality time with your fiancé and go out on dates. Designate certain nights to be times when you don’t bring up anything about wedding planning at all. This will help to keep the spark alive and keep you both looking forward to your big day.

Don’t Forget Self Care

As with any stressful time, it’s super important to remember to engage in self-care in the months and weeks leading up to your wedding day. Take a break from planning every so often to take a step back and evaluate how you’re doing. If you need to slow down, don’t be afraid to do so. Everyone needs different things in times of stress, so try to figure out exactly what it is you need and then give yourself that.
