In an interview with Joy FM’s Kwame Dadzie on Showbiz A-Z, the 2023 VGMA Rapper of The Year addressed the criticism from social media users who believed he should have delayed his release to allow “Makoma” more space in the spotlight.

The artist explained that the release timing was not a matter of overshadowing King Paluta’s work, but rather a well-planned decision.

“Myself and my team, we have plans. Sometimes people make it seem they think about you more than you think about yourself, which is very bad,” he stated.

According to him, they had originally planned to release their collaboration “Playman” on the same day Paluta dropped “Makoma,” but decided to postpone it to support Paluta’s release. “I agreed that he should release his song on that day so that I drop mine a week after his,” he added.

Amerado further dismissed the notion that only one song can dominate the music market at a time, explaining that there is room for multiple hits.

“The fact that we are playing King Paluta doesn’t mean we cannot play ‘Amerado.’ We cannot play one person’s song all the time,” he emphasized, comparing the situation to high-profile artists like Daddy Lumba and Amakye Dede, whose songs also vary in popularity.

The rapper has since dropped his 5-track EP, The Gold Coin, and shared that “Date Rush” has garnered significant attention on TikTok, even more so than some of his previous hits. “Out of all the big songs I have dropped including ‘Abronoma,’ the ‘Date Rush’ song has the most interactions on TikTok,” he revealed.

Despite the success of “Makoma,” the music sensation made it clear that he stands by his decision, as no one can predict how big a song will become.
