Angelina Jolie says she stopped singing after an ex criticized her voice

Renowned American actress and humanitarian Angelina Jolie has disclosed the reasons behind her decision to quit singing.

The thespian earned rave reviews after her film Maria premiered at the Venice Film Festival last week. she shared the intense shooting process for the psychological drama film about opera singer Maria Callas, which required her to use her singing voice.

Angelina attributed this choice of quitting music to the harsh criticism she received from her former partner regarding her vocal abilities.

Jolie reflected on how her ex-boyfriend’s unkind remarks led her to believe that she lacked singing talent.

In a recent interview with the Hollywood Reporter, she expressed that this criticism had a significant impact on her mental well-being, ultimately leading her to accept her ex-boyfriend’s views as her own reality.

“I don’t sing. I had somebody in my life who was not kind to me about singing. It was a relationship I was in. And so I just assumed I couldn’t sing. I’d been to theatre school, so it was weird that it even affected me. I just kind of adapted to this person’s opinion,” she said.
