Austin Millz & Estelle Collab on Cruiseworthy ‘Freeway’

Austin Millz is an artist reshaping the current sound of Harlem. His latest single, ‘Freeway’, in collaboration with the UK R&B star and Apple Music host, Estelle, is a deliciously catchy Spring bite of modern dancefloor pop.

Millz’s production allows Estelle’s vocals to soar and soothe, while anchoring us into a groove. Freeway is another example of the fluidity and the breadth of Millz sonic style, with its accompanying fun-loving music video securing support from MTV. His forthcoming ‘Breathwork’ EP, which includes his recent collaboration, ‘Inhale / Exhale feat Sabrina Claudio’, highlights his uniquely contemporary approach to blending classic genres and styles. On the single, Austin Millz comments — “Working with Estelle was an honor for me. I reached out to her a while back about working together and we finally made it happen. I played her the “Freeway” beat in the beginning of the session and then we just loaded it up. She started writing, got in the booth, and as soon as she sang the first words, I knew we had something special.”

Known for her eclectic mix of various musical genres including R&B, soul, reggae, grime, hip hop, pop and dance, Estelle is a UK legend with a string of critically acclaimed chart-topping hits and high-profile collabs including Kanye West, John Legend, Tyler the Creator. Like Millz, she’s unafraid to cross traditional genre lines, and explore the richness of Black music culture through a modern lens.

On the single, Estelle comments — “This song came about pretty naturally; we were literally on a freeway on the way to the studio when I came up with the hook… I’m happy to have walked into a beautiful track produced by Austin and walked out with a masterpiece.”

‘Freeway feat. Estelle’ follows the recent success of Millz’s recent collaborative track ‘Inhale / Exhale’ with the platinum-selling R&B songstress, Sabrina Claudio. The single premiered on Zane Lowe’s prominent Apple Radio show, also acquiring global media recognition from iconic outlets like Rolling Stone. Featured as one of the faces of Spotify’s “Frequency” campaign, the platform’s global initiative celebrating Black art, entertainment, creativity, culture, and community, ‘Inhale / Exhale’‘ landed him on the cover of Electronic + Dance Frequency and a top spot in Choice Edit accumulating 783 total playlist placements and 1.3M Spotify streams for the single.
