Burberry has shared its autumn/winter 2019 ad campaign, with a shoot dedicated to British culture and inclusivity.

Riccardo Tisci, Burberry chief creative officer, teamed up with photographers Danko Steiner and Nick Knight for the project, shot on location by the sea.

The campaign showcases the refined and the classic alongside the more relaxed and free, expressing two distinct viewpoints of one collection.

The cast includes Irina Shayk, Fran Summers, Sora Choi, He Cong and Alexis Chaparro, alongside Freja Beha Erichsen, Finn Rosseel, Shayna McNeill, Anna Ross, Kacie Hall, Heejung Park, Mammina Aker, Xie Yunpeng, Junior Vasquez, Benji Arvay and Ghana’s Maxwell Annoh who all make their Burberry ad campaign debuts.

The marvellous Maxwell Annoh hails from Accra, and before his lucky break in Europe and America spent most of his time in Cape Town, South Africa, modelling for local clients.   Maxwell on his journey in modelling revealed:

“My career took off in 2014. Before then I worked as a barista in a coffee shop in Accra… I never had dreams of modelling, all I wanted to be was a meteorologist. On a daily basis customers that came into the coffee shop thought I would be a great model. I thought I wasn’t ready until one French guy became angry at me still working at the coffee shop and not modelling… he asked me, ‘Don’t you want to make a living?’”

Burberry’s Autumn/Winter 2019 collection, Tempest, celebrates the contrasts and contradictions in British culture and weather, from the structured to the rebellious, evolving the cues and codes first set out in Riccardo’s debut collection for Burberry last year.
