<![CDATA[DStv will be bringing viewers in-depth coverage of the 2012 Presidential Election live on its news channels. Below is the schedule for some of the channels who have deployed their correspondents to bring viewers a blow-by-blow account of the elections.
CNN (DSTV Channel 401): CNN’s coverage of this 2012 election season will start on Tuesday 6 November, Election Day, with the network’s top team of anchors in Washington and in the field, from reporters on the ground in the final battleground states and at candidate headquarters.
Tuesday 6 November: ELECTION DAY
· Early Start with John Berman and Zoraida Sambolin and Starting Point with Soledad O’Brien air live from Washington from 11:00 CAT to 23:00.
· Election Day in America editions of CNN Newsroom will provide live coverage from 15:00- 18:00 CAT with updates from CNN’s correspondents in the final battleground states.
· A special one-hour Election Day in America edition of Erin Burnett OutFront airs live at 18:00 CAT from Columbus, Ohio.
· A special one-hour Election Day in America edition of Anderson Cooper 360° airs live at 21:00 CAT from Washington.
· A special Election Day in America edition of The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer airs live beginning at 22:00 CAT.
· ELECTION NIGHT IN AMERICA full team coverage begins at 22:00 CAT and continues through night until 09:00 CAT.
Wednesday, November 7
· America’s Choice 2012 coverage will begin at 09:00 CAT with Early Start anchors John Berman and Zoraida Sambolin and Starting Point anchor Soledad O’Brien. Sambolin will be live from Chicago, Berman and O’Brien live from Washington.
· At 12:00 CAT America’s Choice 2012 continues with Kate Bolduan and Joe Johns from Washington.
· At noon, post-election day editions of CNN Newsroom continue with anchors Wolf Blitzer, Suzanne Malveaux, John King and Brooke Baldwin from Washington and Atlanta.
· Post-Election Day editions of The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer, Erin Burnett OutFront, Anderson Cooper 360°, and Piers Morgan Tonight will air live at their regularly scheduled times.
Al Jazeera (DStv Channel 406): Throughout 2012, Al Jazeera’s current affairs programmes have tracked the US presidential race from grassroots through to every presidential debate and shift in political development and perspective.
ELECTION DAY Tuesday 6 November: Join Al Jazeera from 09:00 CAT for live reports from their news correspondents and teams across America with studio analysis and robust political debate, as well as extensive coverage on the day.
· Al Jazeera’s weekly media watch programme The Listening Post (06:30 CAT) will cast a critical eye over the media’s coverage of events.
· The Stream (06:00 CAT)will bring the global social media community together with its own daily program, seeking out untold angles to the most compelling stories of the day.
· Empire (Thursday 8 November, 22:00 CAT, America Elects a President) is where the regional scholars and experts will analyse key issues and discuss around the US Elections.
