In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) on October 2, the artist condemned the actions of the police, describing their response as a “punitive measure.”

The music legend criticized some Ghanaians for supporting the police’s handling of the protests. He wrote, “It’s actually very alarming that you can be held without bail for exercising your right to protest. Even more concerning is your fellow Ghanaians agreeing with this blatant punitive measure under the guise of ‘law & order.’ E be your own people… until one day e reach dem.”

The rapper, known for his social activism, also showed solidarity with the protesters, expressing frustration with the country’s current state. In a second tweet, he added, “Love to everyone on the frontlines and everyone amplifying. And to those poisoning the waters, literally and figuratively, posterity will have its say.”

His remarks come as several groups have called for the release of the 53 Democracy Hub protesters, who were arrested during an anti-galamsey demonstration aimed at drawing attention to the ongoing environmental crisis caused by illegal mining activities in Ghana.
