Flying With The Stars: Photos from my trip to 2013 AMAA with P-Square, Banky W, AY, WAJE and more!!!

Well, I’m finally back home in Ghana after a very challenging trip to Nigeria for the 2013 Africa Movie Academy Awards (watch out for my diaries on the trip soon). The trip surely had several low points for me but there were some interesting highlights also.  This includes flying on a star-studded chartered flight from Lagos to Port Harcourt on Friday. After a bumpy and chaotic checking in at the domestic airport, we  finally made our way to the plane and it was nice to see lots of actors, musicians and film makers as well as friends from the media across the continent and the globe onboard the flight.  Among the many stars were AY, Waje, Banky W, Chinedu Ikedieze, P-Square, Chioma Akpotha, Vina and many others.  And oh boy, these Nigerians are funny! From the actors to the musicians, it seemed that anyone could easily do comedy for a career. They cracked me up so hard; and even though I would have preferred a quieter flight, the shouts and loud conversation across the flight made it interesting and fun. It was particularly interesting to see some of the stars scrambling for the snacks and drinks served during the in-flight service.  Some grabbed as many as 4 cupcakes for themselves and it was not surprising that after over 10 minutes of service, the trolley was still stationed around the first 10 rows of seats, trying to ‘satisfy’ the stars. With such a fun ‘ride’, it was not surprising to note smiles on our faces, when we landed at the Port Harcourt Airport. But after traveling for several hours by road to Bayelsa and the many inconveniences that awaited us, would the stars still manage to wear their smiles throughout the journey? STAY TUNED   ]]>
