BLAST FROM THE PAST’ from Oliver Twist Shack (in Laterbiokorshie, Accra) was coined to take you down a musical memory lane. Ghana is known as the first black African country south of the Sahara to have secured independence from colonial rule.

Apart from cocoa and gold we are also renowned for our beats, percussions, melody and vocal prowess embedded in our rich music; highlife evolved into hiplife then to afrobeats and to the asakaa notes and rhythms of this day. It is time to clear 17th December, 2022 on your calendar! Ever wondered which songs kept us dancing, tapping our feet and bopping our heads to rhythms in the 1990s and early 2000s? For some this evokes a feeling of nostalgia and for others these are new songs that are thoroughly enjoyable.

Either way ‘BLAST FROM THE PAST’ serves to be a memorable concert which brings back legendary songs that made high school entertainment and parties unforgettable. Music is at the centre of our cultural heritage and as young Ghanaian kings and queens, it is our patriotic duty to be custodians of this culture and preserve it and that is where Oliver Twist Shack has taken the initiative.

Throughout Ghanaian history, music has been a special reserve which holds tales of our strife for freedom, life lessons and also celebrates our joyous and festive moments. We believe the evolution of our music is a key component of progress in the entertainment industry and by extension nightlife in Ghana. The great musicians of the old order should not be forgotten for being exemplary trailblazers. Despite the infiltration of Western music, we believe BLAST FROM THE PAST provides a platform for our powerful local music to live on. This year the legends like Obrafour and Mzbel will grace the stage.

It promises to be a remarkable music concert.  Join us let’s make indelible memories. Let our artistes know that their lasting legacy continues to inspire the younger generation to achieve more. This event is the go to festival for authentic Ghanaian music. It has a huge bearing on the Experience Ghana and Celebrate Ghana pillars of the Beyond the Return initiative. See you there.
