Tom Antwi, who is currently the head coach for the the soccer team of the University of Houston – Downtown, where he also played as a student,  was recently in Ghana for a short visit.

Tom, who is also a scout for the Houston Dynamo Academy in the Major League Soccer (MLS), talked to Ameyaw TV about his journey into football, betting tips, and the dynamics of playing football in the US.

Tom and some friends have started an initiative called the African Football Development Initiative to help talents in Ghana and Africa to reach their fullest potential in the field of football. It is a nonprofit organization inspired by the passion to help children who are gifted yet underprivileged to realize their football dreams.

“Starting in Ghana, our main focus areas are: Providing support to facilitate the activities of grass-root coaches and players; and  Fostering partnerships with clubs, national governing bodies, nonprofits, businesses and academics to help find and spread effective solution for challenges to football development on the continent”

“Beyond the game of football, the structure of AFDI programs help underprivileged kids develop a positive self-worth and outlook in life. Our programs target kids between ages of eight to twenty-three. Ultimately, we are relentlessly focused on contributing towards building a robust African football industry that will be one of the most powerful vehicles in driving Africa’s economic and social development.”
