Music produces a kind of pleasure human nature cannot do without, however, music today is becoming more irrelevant with regards to lyrics in Ghana.

Today’s Lyrics Making Any Sense?

Besides, taking a look at the lyrics of the current songs in Ghana, it is easy to conclude that lyrics to some artistes is just not that significant.

Again, lyrics in some Ghanaian songs nowadays have no clear and moral meanings and some rappers will just slam everything in their minds into one rap, and it can barely be followed.

Personally, I would also indicate that these days some musicians care more about money and fame than making good music.

For instance, some of their lyrics are so irrelevant that they talk about the same things over and over again.

Gone are the days where musicians like Daddy Lumba, Obrafour, Kojo Antwi and Amakye Dede would put everything into a song or an album.

Besides, there are equally good musicians in Ghana who can put excellent lyrics in their songs to inform, educate and entertain their listeners or fans.

But, there are few musicians known for good storylines in their music, including Samini, Sarkodie, Teephlow, Okyeame Kwame and Trigmatic.

Songs written without heart do not speak to anyone. Write from experience. Write from that pain, that love, that joy, that concern, that excitement, whatever it is that makes you feel something. Because when you feel it, it translates into your songs. Write the truth, write what’s genuine.

That’s not to say you can’t write about something that hasn’t happened to you. Just be sure to find something about that story that’s real.
