I felt like I needed to move forward and focus on my brand – Mr Drew talks leaving Highly Spiritual Music

Ghanaian highlife and Afrobeats artiste, Mr Drew has revealed reasons why he left his former music label, ‘Highly Spiritual Records’.
In a recent appearance on ‘Onua Showtime’ with Nana AMA McBrown, the singer cum dancer disclosed that every signee on the label had a purpose and he personally has a brand to build.

“My contract was the same as all the other artists who signed onto the label but I feel like everyone has a purpose with which they came but as for me I’m done with my 5 years”, he said.
According to Mr Drew, Kaywa gave his blessings to him as he was leaving the label.

“Kaywa gave his blessing for me to leave. In every work you do it’s contract-based, so when the time is right the contract dictates if you decide to still work with the management team or find your own footing,” he stated.

Mr. Drew further explained that after he completed his five-year contract, he had a personal brand he wanted to focus on and project to make its own way in the entertainment industry, therefore it was time for him to pay attention and build his personal brand.

“For me as a person, I felt like I needed to move forward for the brand Mr Drew so I didn’t consider signing again. I feel like I’ve done 5 years it’s enough,” he added.
