Known for his energetic performances and dedication to the genre, Ras Kuuku made headlines when he won the prestigious award for Best Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year.

In a candid interview with Andy Dosty On Hitz FM’s Daybreakhitz show, the founder of Poum Music shared, “I’m the only artiste who has made the Telecel Ghana Music Award (TGMA) formally VGMA popular. After winning the award, I took my plaque to the streets and ghettos, showing it to the people. I wanted them to see what hard work and perseverance can achieve. It wasn’t just about me; it was about inspiring others and bringing the award closer to the grassroots. And they also made me who I am today.”

The crooner, who has been a staunch defender of Reggae music for so many years further accused organizers of the popular awards scheme of having their favorite artiste. However, he failed to mention names when he asked who their favorites were.
