Education is often hailed as the key to a brighter future, a stepping stone toward achieving one’s dreams and ambitions. Adjetey Sowah, a former world dance champion, has reflected on his life journey with profound regret for not taking education seriously when he had the chance.

According to him, he regrets not putting his education first as he was building his career. Speaking to the host of the Asaase Breakfast Show on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, Adjetey stated that  “I didn’t take my education seriously, which I regret, but apart from that everything is great. It’s in the blood: my father used to be a rocknroll dancer back in the 1960s. I realised I could dance when I was in school, Lincoln International School, around Class Five. I was leading a traditional dance group and I realised I could do it.”

The seasoned dancer continued by saying, “A Teshie guy is always a Teshie guy, if you know what you want and you want to achieve it, you have to focus. With determination, you’ll get there.”
Adjetey Sowah came to the limelight at a very young age when he became the first Ghanaian to win the World Dance Championships in the UK in 1986. He identified his dancing talents and sharpened his skills in class six when he was appointed as the leader of the school’s traditional cultural dance troop and progressed to Labone Secondary School in 1980.
