Award-winning Ghanaian Reggae and dancehall artist, Emmanuel Andrews Samini, widely known as Samini, has recently opined that it is impossible to do organic reggae and succeed in Ghana.

According to the ‘Linda’ hitmaker, he wouldn’t have had a successful music career if he decided to stick to doing only reggae organically. Samini made this statement while speaking in an interview with King Lagazee on Asaase Radio’s Yaad Settings weekend show.

“If I did reggae organic, I wouldn’t have made it in the industry, I think we should be fair to ourselves. Almost like a decade ago, you can say that it is only Samini that can boast of doing proper reggae,” he said.

“Even with that, the people who created the original reggae culture used to criticise me on how I present the reggae and how I add Twi,” he added.

The music legend further mentioned his colleague Reggae artiste, Ras Kuku as one of the best musicians in the reggae fraternity in the country.

“But moving forward, we have to give credit to some people like Ras Kuku because when he got the opportunity to step in, he did so fully. I would say that we are trying. It is a very tight space,” the crooner averred.
