John Mahama’s Nomination Forms Submitted: Asiedu Nketia Leads Filing with NDC Officials

On Monday, September 9, 2024, Asiedu Nketia, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), officially filed the nomination forms for John Mahama with the Electoral Commission.

This crucial step marks a significant advancement in Mahama’s campaign for the presidency in the upcoming general election. 

Asiedu Nketia, representing Mahama and the NDC, submitted the forms as part of the formal process required for Mahama to secure his place in the upcoming presidential race. The submission was carried out in a well-organized way, highlighting the party’s readiness and commitment to the electoral process.

 The National Chairman was joined by key figures from the NDC, including Fifi Kwetey, the General Secretary; Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, the Director of IT and Elections; and other senior party officials.

Following the submission, Nketia expressed hope that the Electoral Commission would address the NDC’s concerns about the electoral process. “We hope the commission will listen and listen to us very well,” Nketia stated, emphasizing the party’s desire for a fair and transparent process.

Chair of the Electoral Commission, Jean Adukwei Mensa, assured that the election process would be conducted peacefully, transparently, and fairly. She also noted that a team of experts would review the presidential nomination forms to ensure they meet the necessary standards.

Notably, the Electoral Commission has extended the filing period to five days, a change from the previous two-day limit, providing aspirants with more time to complete their submissions.

The filing of the nomination forms is a key milestone for Mahama, who is seeking to return to the presidency after previously serving as Ghana’s President. This formal submission paves the way for Mahama’s campaign to move forward, allowing him to present his policies and vision to the electorate.
