K’Aente: A New Cultural Event Bringing the Best of Asian Entertainment to Accra

The first edition of K’Aente, a cultural event celebrating Asian entertainment and lifestyle, is set to take place on October 19th, 2024. Organized by Afia Agyemang, the event will be held at the Jukebox Studios in Mempeasem, East Legon opposite the Ghana Meteorological Agency.

The gathering promises a day filled with interactive activities designed to unite enthusiasts of Asian entertainment and culture in Ghana. It seeks to bring together Asians in Accra eager to share their culture with Ghanaians, offering an authentic cultural experience. K’Aente aims to foster a sense of community among fans who share a deep passion for the culture of various countries such as South Korea, Japan, Thailand, China, and more. 

The inaugural event will focus on South Korean culture, though future editions will highlight other Asian countries, offering an engaging and immersive introduction to its rich traditions. Over the years, Ghana has cemented itself as a top consumer of Korean pop, Korean dramas, and webtoons in Africa. In 2022, Spotify ranked Ghana as the fifth largest market for Korean pop in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The day’s activities will include a range of experiences catering to different aspects of Korean culture. Attendees will get the chance to showcase their vocal talents in a Karaoke Session, singing their favorite K-pop songs alongside fellow enthusiasts. For film lovers, a Korean Movie Viewing promises to provide a cozy, shared cinematic experience. Adding to the fun, attendees will also participate in Korean Games, where teamwork and interaction will be encouraged through various traditional and modern games from South Korea. In a statement, Afia Agyemang, the brain behind K’Aente urged the public to “come and explore a world where Ghana and Korea meet.”
