Legendary Highlife singer, Amakye Dede insists that he was forced to crown Kuami Eugene as the “new king of Highlife,” despite claims by Charter House Ghana that it wasn’t arranged.

According to Amakye Dede, it was Kiki Banson, who handed him the crown to do the crowning on stage at the 2019 edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

“I’m telling you straight, it was Kiki, when he gave it to me, I handed it to Robberman to put it down because it wasn’t me. I was forced to do it. If you like call Kiki,” he insisted in a new interview on Okay FM with Abeiku Santana.

Over the week, the Legendary Highlife singer had dropped a bombshell during an interview on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, that he was forced to crown the young highlife and Afrobeats crooner.

“Though I did that, it was not my will to do so. They forced me to crown Kuami Eugene,” the ‘Dabi Dabi’ hitmaker stated.

However, in response to Amakye Dede’s Claims, Robert Klah, the head of public events and communication at Charterhouse, organisers of the VGMAs asserted that, “We did not orchestrate any crowning session.
