nomuzi-mabenaFuel up your tank, buckle up and get ready to roll because it’s time for another thrill-seeking edition of the MTV Base VJ Search. Last week’s programme saw electrical engineer Lynton Harvey, singer Tamasha Gambushe and model and radio presenter Wandile Chamane all get through to the next round of the competition after competing in the Durban auditions – but this week it’s the turn of Cape Town to show what it’s made of!

This week, we get to meet some of the hundreds of young hopefuls who turned out at the July auditions at Tyger Valley Shopping Centre in Bellville, Cape Town – driven by the prospect of escaping the ordinary and getting through to the next round in the MTV Base VJ Search contest.  Among them are aspiring talent manager Jamie Thurston, Chinese-speaking VJ wannabe Shantell Slabbert, 23-year old actress Loren Loubser; 25-year old campus radio host, MC and entrepreneur Khanya Siyengo and 23-year old model and 2012 top 10 finalist Roxanne Kalie.

At stake in the talent competition is a fabulous contract with MTV Base worth R 500,000. The winner will also drive away in a Citroën DS3 Cabrio worth R 315,000.  Each auditionee has just a few minutes to show off their skills and impress the MTV Base producers before learning whether they have made it to the Cape Town callbacks.

Effervescent MTV Base VJ and former VJ search winner Nomuzi Mabena hosts the fun-packed programme with her typical brio and light-hearted enthusiasm, alternately rejoicing or commiserating with the VJ hopefuls, and giving the inside track on how the contest is going.

MTV Base and Citroën are offering one anti-ordinary viewer the opportunity to become a #BackSeatVJ and drive away in the awesome Citroën DS3 Cabrio. Each week, watch the show, complete the Twitter challenge, and if you impress the judges you could be selected to go head-to-head in a final #BackSeatVJ showdown for the right to drive away in a Citroën DS3 Cabrio.  Start by following @CitroënSA, #BackSeatVJ and visit www.mtvbase.com for the full low-down.
