MUSIGA President Bessa Simons to collaborate with Ghana Jazz Foundation to revive live music

The Ghana Jazz Foundation, a non-profit organization that aims to promote live jazz music and other local art forms through collaborations like educational programs and support for musicians and live music venues has been launched.

The Ghana Jazz Foundation (GJF) was established to promote artistic performances and elevate Ghana and Africa’s music both locally and internationally. The foundation is committed to connecting local talents with the diaspora and global institutions using innovative and strategic methods. The official launch ceremony took place at the +233 Jazz Bar & Grill.

According to the Ghana Jazz Foundation’s President, Dr Adrian Oddoye, the foundation which was formed in 2023 is a collaboration between lovers of Jazz and musicians to offer an approach to how resources could be brought together to enhance the live music scene in Accra and across Ghana.

“Tonight is a special night, we’ve worked at getting this foundations together trying to get the musicians and the Jazz collaborators to sit and put together a plan of bands just to move live music forward locally and across the country and we would like to take that small step today to launch the foundation in a small way. We want to sustain the momentum and promote jazz music in Ghana”, he said.

Present at the launch ceremony was the President of MUSIGA, Bessa Simons who announced his intention to come together with the Ghana Jazz Foundation to promote live music in Ghana.
“We welcome initiatives that will improve the quality of music that will enable networking for musicians, worldwide collaborations are becoming the order of the day. An area where Musicians Union of Ghana would love to collaborate closely with the Ghana Jazz Foundation is in preparing to host the International Jazz Day celebration in Ghana in the next future”, he stated.
