Life often takes unexpected turns, and responsibilities as parents can sometimes lead people down unforeseen paths. Sarah Adwoa Safo, a Ghanaian politician and Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, has detailed why she left her duties as a Minister and Member of Parliament (MP) sometime in 2022.

It will be recalled that the embattled (New Patriotic Party) politician in November 2022, finally appeared in Parliament after missing fifteen sitting days in parliament. She later came out to apologize and acknowledge that her actions during that period were unjustifiable and expressed deep regret for her behaviour.

Following her recent apology, the popular MP, has explained that she left her duties as an MP because her son was sick in the United States. Adwoa Safo detailed that she didn’t intend to stay away for long, but her challenges became so enormous that she had to stay away for more than a year.

The politician made this revelation when she paid a visit to her constituents in the Dome market on Wednesday, October 25,2023.

“I’ve already met a lot of you at home and explained why you didn’t hear from me for over a year and a half. I know that being my mothers, sisters and aunties; you understand certain things. As women there are times you need to go through what women go through or do what women do. What really accounted for my absence, I know it is slanted but not broken.”

“Along the line, my first male child suffered a certain illness and I had to leave, which in my thinking was supposed to be for a short time to go and fix my home. But the devil who had other plans against God’s work, did not allow things to go that way,” she stated.
