November 1: Required 2-Step Verification for YouTube Creators

Published

To protect your account, Google is adding a second layer of security to your password secured account. Once an optional measure of security, YouTube now requires all monetizing accounts under the YouTube Partner Program to turn on 2-step verification on their channels by November 1. Monetizing accounts under the YouTube Partner Program risk losing access to their account if they fail to comply with this security.

How to Turn On 2-Step Verification for Your YouTube Creator Studio

In your account’s Creator Updates, you should see a notice that reads, “Monetizing creators should enable 2-Step Verification: Starting November 1, all monetizing creators will have to have 2-Step Verification enabled to access YouTube Studio or the YouTube Studio Content Manager. Monetizing creators will not be able to access those tools without having 2-Step Verification enabled by then.”

No matter where you are in your content creation journey, starting 2-step verification for account security is a smart move across all accounts you own. Google has recently made it clear that security for its users is a top priority. Now that the company is making 2-step verification mandatory for YouTube creators, it could be only a matter of time before other online content networks follow their lead.
