As is tradition, old girls of one of the most prestigious senior high schools in Ghana, Wesley Girls’ High School are always doing something to give back to their school. What they are notorious for is their Speech and Prize Giving Day with their grandiose display of fashion, high profile dignitaries as well as their loyalty and generosity to their school; yet there’s a lot more celebration in between speech days.

Every year in September, they celebrate their founder: Mrs. Harriet Wrigley, the wife of the 2nd Methodist Missionary to the Gold Coast. Mrs. Wrigley started the school, we all know and have come to love, with only 25 girls at the Manse in the Standfast hall near Victoria Park in Cape Coast to provide these girls basic education including reading, writing, housekeeping, and religious education.

This year, the theme for Wrigley’s Day, as they call it, is “Dream, Dare, and Deliver”. The 2012 year group is hosting this year’s Wrigley Day with two major activities:

  • A Family Fun Day & Food Bazaar at the Legon City Mall opposite the University of Ghana on the 17th of September. All are invited!
  • A thanksgiving service on the 18th of September at the National Council For Tertiary Education in Accra.
