Opinion: Enhancing the Borteyman Sports Complex: A Visionary Proposal from the Motorsport Federation of Ghana to the National Sports Authority

As Ghana’s motorsport industry gains momentum, the Motorsport Federation of Ghana (MFG) envisions aligning its growth with the country’s broader sports development objectives. The Borteyman Sports Complex, a newly established facility, is poised to serve as a critical hub for sports activities across the nation. MFG believes that, by collaborating with the National Sports Authority (NSA), the development of motorsport-specific infrastructure alongside the existing facilities could unlock immense value for Ghana’s sports sector and position the country as a leader in African motorsport.

The Motorsport Federation of Ghana is a newly established body dedicated to promoting and advancing motorsport in the country. Our objectives include grassroots development, the creation of fanbases across categories such as Formula 1, rally, karting, and motocross, and the organization of professional events. We believe the Borteyman Sports Complex is the ideal venue to house Ghana’s motorsport future. 1. Go-Karting Facilities: A Pathway for Youth Engagement

Go-karting is widely regarded as the entry point for young drivers interested in motorsport. MFG proposes the development of a world-class FIA-certified go-karting circuit, along with MotoGP and mini-rally sites, at the Borteyman Sports Complex. This facility would serve as a talent incubator, allowing young drivers to master the basics of racing while attracting motorsport enthusiasts, tourists, and local families. The facility could host national and regional go-kart championships, fostering community participation and developing the next generation of Ghanaian motorsport talent.

Motorsport is much more than just racing; it is a convergence of advanced engineering, vehicle mechanics, and cutting-edge technology.
