Nigeria’s music super duo, P-Square who have been nominated for four Soundcity Music Video Awards (SMVA), say that they are more than capable of clinching all four nods at the award ceremony slated for  the  Expo Center, Eko Hotel in Lagos, Nigeria on November 20.

The duo of twins, Peter and Paul Okoye has been nominated in 4 various categories for Best Editing, Best Duo or Group Video, Best Video and Best Western, for their hit song ‘Danger’.  They commented: “It’s a good and rewarding feeling to be nominated in these 4 categories but it came as no surprise to us because of the quality, value and time put into every song, video or album of ours. We consistently strive to bring out quality videos, concepts and ideas and people are glad watching it because we don’t do half measures. Although the credits goes to the director as he is the brains behind the videos.”

According to the group, SMVA 2010 has incorporated a Pan-African approach which would give them more challenge from other artists across Africa. Nonetheless, the group maintains that they always make the best videos in Africa because they have the best concepts, quality and originality. They believe that their videos can be compared to their foreign counterparts.

Speaking about ‘Danger’, which has been nominated for several other awards, Paul described the procedure for the video shoot as hectic, tasking, rigorous and very challenging. “The video was shot in slow motion for every scene and required everyone taking panadol after every 2hrs. With this hard work, it leaves no doubt that Danger was made for SMVA awards because of the technicality.”

P-Square believes that they have what it takes to clinch the awards because of the time, efforts and creative interpretation of their videos.
