His message resonates with a growing sentiment that life in Ghana offers unique advantages. Although he acknowledged that there are difficulties, the King, made known that the country needs professionals to work to grow the economy.
While speaking at the 57th Congregation of the school on Friday, November 24, 2023, the revered King, who doubles as the chancellor of the university, divulged that the only jobs available to graduates outside the country are menial jobs.

He further added that from his experience of living abroad for a number of years, Ghanaian graduate students mostly only get cleaning jobs amongst others despite their qualifications when they leave Ghana for greener pastures.

“With all due respect, on this topic, I have lived abroad before, we worked in restaurants and all those things, even though we had gone to the university before we went there.

“So, the people here are much better than living in abroad and we have to be honest with ourselves. Because graduates and all that, people qualified are not given the work they want to do because they are taken to hospitals to clean and all of that,” he said

The Asantehene to a greater extent appealed to the graduates not to travel abroad because in Ghana, they are given the needed reverence and self-esteem.

“Whiles you are here, we accord you with all the respect and dignity as a lecturer, as a professor and everything. So, please let us stay here and work,” he emphasized.

After lamenting the increasing rate of brain drain, the respected traditional ruler also told the government and all the stakeholders to create an enabling environment in the country to serve as an incentive for young graduates and professionals to remain and work.

Otumfuo has said it all. Efie ni fie. Someone once said that you only travel when you’re in need.So people travel outside out of frustration. You are therefore always not happy. Let’s stay and build our Motherland. Thank you.
