Renowned Ghanaian comedian, Derick Kobina Bonney, otherwise known as DKB has taken to social media to encourage Ghanaians to pray for their celebrities.

His appeal comes on the back of Ghanaian rapper, Ayibge Edem’s recent accident on Sunday, December 10, 2023. According to a press statement signed by the management of the ‘Over Again’ hitmaker, the incident happened after the musician’s appearance on United Television on Saturday, December 9. The statement made it known that the accident occurred on the George Walker Bush Highway, “where a ‘naked’ woman crossed his path out of nowhere.”

It further stated that “Edem’s car turned upside down after the impact but the artist is very fine and is currently complying with the police service for due process as the case is still under investigation.

However, in a heartfelt message to Ghanaians in a video posted on his official Instagram page, DKB, emphasized the importance of supporting those in the public eye with prayers as they often face intense danger in the line of duty.

The comedian further shared his own worst experiences, detailing a number of near fatal accidents he had been involved in.

“We famous people ….I mean celebrities, we dey see things o. On two different occasions on the Achimota -Kumasi highway while going home from shows, two mad people crossed my path. One was a lady and one was a guy. You will never know where they came from. It was only God.

“One time on the flyover, I encountered kitchen stools. It is not everything we talk about. Freshly constructed kitchen stools and I had to drive through it because if I dodge it, guess what will happen. So we dey see things..like we dey encounter things. Pray for us,” he said.

DKB to a greater extent advised ‘showbiz players’ especially hosts of TV and radio shows to desist from discussing Edem’s accident on air as it is a very sensitive issue which involves death.

“Ghanaian showbiz players, I really beg you guys, please cut Edem some slack. To be honest this issue is a very tragic one and i think it will be insensitive to be discussing it on radio. You can imagine how he is feeling now, so please cut him some slack,” he added.
