<![CDATA[A select group of the finest fashion design talent were hosted by Printex Limited Ghana at the African Regent Hotel in Accra for its first ‘Brunch & Style’. The event was organized to strengthen the relationship between one of Ghana’s oldest textile manufacturing companies and the country’s best design talent. Business and Brand consultant Vickie Remoe said that the event was the first in a series to identify mutually beneficial relationships for Printex and local designers. “Printex believes the local fashion design and textile industry are interdependent. We believe that fashion designers decide the trends”, said Remoe. On an invitation from Printex, noted African Fashion blogger Terence Sambo of One Nigerian Boy led designers in a discussion on innovative ways to use social media for fashion branding. He also shared tips on hoe designers can better sell their brands on the internet. The fashion designers present included Mina Evans (Mina Evans), Brigitte Merki-Ibrahim (Brigitte Merki), Nathaniel Nunoo (Nuna Couture), Abena and Nana Darkoa Seyiamah (Maksi Clothing), Kennedy Kofi Ansah (Afri-Ken), and Abena Safoa (Sa4a). A representative from West Africa Trade Hub, Hanna Amichia also gave a presentation. She shared information on Source Africa, fashion manufacturing, and opportunities available in the textile and apparel industry under AGOA. One of the designers present, Brigitte Merki said that the opportunity to launch co-branded adveritising campaigns with Printex is just what the market needs. “If people see our brands on billboards with Printex then it helps them to understand the value of fashion designers over tailors. This is what I’ve been waiting for. In the first quarter of 2013 Printex Limited will be embarking on a robust advertising campaign to promote its Arete and Xclusive wax printed collections. The campaign will feature selected designs from local fashion brands on Printex billboards. The current line of Arete and Xclusive lines are available at retailers across Ghana as modeled by Menaye Donkor the face of Printex.
