Sole survivor of ‘Deadly Voyage’ Kingsley Ofosu arrested in €120,000 scam

Kingsley Ofosu, the sole survivor of the famous Deadly Voyage stowaway story in 1992, has been arrested for his involvement in an alleged €120,000 scam, as reported by 3 News.com.

According to the report, Ofosu was arrested from his hideout at Prampram in the Greater Accra Region on Saturday, October 14, after nearly two and a half decades of relentless police efforts. He was subsequently arraigned before the Takoradi Circuit Court B.

Inspector Robert Yawson, the prosecutor, informed the court that Ofosu had been on the police’s wanted list since 1998 and requested his remand to allow for the completion of their investigations.

Charles Ohemeng, the complainant, narrated in a telephone interview with Connect FM from Germany that he had engaged in a business deal with Ofosu in 1997, involving the shipment of vehicles and printing machines amounting to €120,000. However, he lost contact with Ofosu until his recent arrest.

Kingsley Ofosu’s story originally gained international attention after he survived a deadly attack on a group of African stowaways in 1992. His remarkable tale was eventually turned into a movie, “Deadly Voyage,” which featured a cast of renowned actors and was distributed by HBO and the BBC.
