Over the last weeks, scores of Ghanaians have taken to social media to complain about “bad fuel” that is damaging their car engines and plugs.

The matter has raised major concerns as citizens navigate the reason behind the sudden and frequent damage of their car plugs.

Adding his voice to the ongoing conversation, Lynx Entertainment signee, KiDi, has expressed concern about the matter.

He took to this X (Twitter) page on Tuesday, December 12th to admonish those in charge to do something about the issue.

“This bad fuel ruining engines and plugs is becoming a serious pandemic. Something needs to be done ASAP . Why are you selling people bad fuel ????? What is the reason?” he tweeted.

The National Petroleum Agency (NPA) has already been threatened with legal action by the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers, or COPEC, over claims that petrol contains manganese.

The Executive Secretary of COPEC, Duncan Amoah, confirms a high concentration of manganese in the fuel currently sold in the Ghanaian market is causing damage to the engines of cars.

“We have had to go down to do some checks to realise that there is clearly some amount of manganese in some of the products across board with the OMCs that has been quite sensitive to some of the vehicles, particularly Hyundai vehicles,” Mr Amoah stated.
